Refugees Welcome! June 20 is World Refugee Day and we are joining with organizations across the country and around the world to stand up for refugees and immigrants! It is very important that our leaders are reminded that America keeps it promises and remains a nation built by immigrants.
Now more than ever, refugees need support from people like you!
The contributions of refugees and immigrants to communities nationwide make our country strong. Tell your elected officials you believe in welcoming refugees and expect them to do the same. With this action you can quickly send a note to each of your elected representatives.
Send a letter to each of your members of Congress urging them to Welcome Refugees with just a few clicks.
Please take action and share far and wide. Thank you.
Welcome Refugees. I am writing on World Refugee Day with this simple request.
Our country is stronger because of the contributions of immigrants and refugees. These families are part of the history and fabric of our communities and our economy. Now is not the time to shut the door to refugees when 65 million people are displaced around the world. This is the highest number since World War II and the U.S. must continue our historic leadership in overseas protection and domestic resettlement. Refugees are individuals persecuted based on their race; religion; national origin; membership in a social group or political opinion. They are unable to return home safely and desperate for a new beginning.
Specifically I ask that you support the resettlement of no less than 75,000 individuals next year through the Presidential Determination and FFY18 budget.
I also ask you to make public statements and share the stories of resettled refugees to your state and district on World Refugee Day. Newly arrived refugees and former refugees who are now U.S. citizens value freedom and love our country. Every day we hear the thanks and gratitude of refugees to the U.S. and see their success. Our Refugees Love America video series features some of their messages: http://www.rcusa.org/refugees-love-america/.
Thank you for your service to our country.
