Iraqi refugee family starts over in Detroit
Ala'a, Sanaa and their two daughters fled to Jordan as refugees, where they lived for three years. They were among 450,000 Iraqi refugees who have fled to Jordan last year, and like many, were subject to much discrimination. Yet because Ala'a had worked for the U.S. military, his family was given special consideration to be resettled to the U.S. With the help of USCRI, they arrived in Detroit, Michigan in January, 2008.
