USCRI Thanks President Obama for Decision to Hold Summit on Migrant Crisis

Topic /

obamaThis year, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) and its supporters took action and urged President Obama to “convene an international summit to find long-term solutions for the global refugee crisis as well as immediate solutions for Syrian refugees in Europe” as a part of its solutions for the Syrian refugee crisis. Yesterday, the New York Times reported that President Obama plans to host a United Nations summit meeting next year on the global migrant crisis and to spend his final year in office working to spur other countries and the private sector to contribute more to humanitarian aid. “We are very pleased that the Obama Administration has taken on this solution and has been determined to make sure the US will continue to welcome refugees,” said USCRI CEO and President Lavinia Limon.  Earlier this week, USCRI applauded Congress for approving an omnibus appropriations spending bill with no refugee policy riders.
