Mayor Mike Duggan joined USCRI Detroit staff in making home visits to newly arrived Syrian refugees this month. Tawfik Alazem, Director of the Detroit Field Office accompanied the Mayor and his staff as they visited a young family in their first apartment. “Its a such pleasure to have the Mayor make time to welcome newcomers. Community support is key to the success of our programs and the fresh starts that refugees need.” said Alazem. The Mayors visit coincides with the news that 10,000 Syrians have entered the US as refugees this year, meeting the goal set previously by the Administration.
