International Services Center merges with USCRI

Topic /

After 100 years of partnership the International Services Center of Cleveland, Ohio has merged with USCRI.  The new name is USCRI Cleveland; our 7th U.S. Field Office. In addition to their excellent work in refugee resettlement, Karin Wishner and her team have developed innovative programs in urban agriculture, microenterprise and housing which expand opportunities for growth in our other sites.

A wonderful history of the Cleveland program can be found here.   The program has undergone multiple mergers since its inception in 1916, shortly after the original U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants was founded.  Over the years the program has welcomed and served Slovenians, Croatians, Serbians, Italians, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Vietnamese, Hungarians, Lebanese, Somalis, Bhutanese and many other ethnic and cultural groups to Cleveland.  We look forward to the next 100 years of service to newcomers and fresh starts in Ohio!
