USCRI Partners with Detroit Mayor’s Office for Outreach Project

On February 26th Tawfik Alazem, Director of the USCRI’s Detroit field office, Eskinder Negash, President and CEO of USCRI, and Lee Williams, Senior Vice President of USCRI met with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s office. The meeting included the Mayor’s Senior Immigrant Affairs and Economic Inclusion Housing & Revitalization teams. The discussion was focused on planning for a community engagement project that the city of Detroit is working on in partnership with USCRI Detroit to provide outreach to refugees and immigrants in the Detroit area. Local government has a critical role to play in refugee resettlement and integration, especially in communities like Detroit, which have so much to gain. This partnership will enable USCRI Detroit’s reach and ability to serve more foreign-born in the Detroit area.
