USCRI Joins RCUSA for 2025 Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill

June 5, 2025

This week, alongside our partners at Refugee Council USA (RCUSA), USCRI spent two impactful days on Capitol Hill meeting with members of Congress and their staff to advocate for the rights and protections of refugees and immigrants. Constituents, former refugees, and longtime advocates shared their stories, opened up crucial conversations, and called for meaningful policy change.

What are Advocacy Days?

RCUSA’s Advocacy Days is an annual event that uplifts the voices of those with lived experience of forced displacement and provides a platform for constituents to engage with their elected representatives directly.

This Year’s Advocacy Priorities:

The 2025 Advocacy Days focused on four urgent policy priorities:

  • Invest in refugee programs, the asylum system, and other humanitarian pathways—and ensure these investments are used in good faith.
  • Urge the administration to fully restore the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) for the most vulnerable refugees.
  • Advance critical oversight initiatives and legislation to improve and protect the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and others forcibly displaced.
  • Defend due process and humanitarian protections, uphold the rule of law, and push back against policies that target marginalized communities.

Over the course of two days, USCRI met with numerous congressional offices—on both sides of the aisle—to advocate for the rights of displaced people around the world. We’re grateful to every constituent and advocate who joined us in ensuring refugee voices were heard and centered.
