FROM SYRIA TO THE CLASSROOM: A STUDENT FROM THE HABESHA PROJECT SHARES A PIECE OF HOME, HOPE, AND HERITAGE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN

August 11, 2025

As part of its Cultural Week activities, the German International School in Aguascalientes welcomed Mohammed, a distinguished student from the Habesha Project, to share a glimpse of Syrian culture with the kindergarten class.

During his visit, Mohammed introduced the children to his hometown in Syria, highlighted interesting linguistic connections between Arabic and Spanish, taught basic numbers in Arabic, and spoke about some of his favorite traditional Syrian dishes. His participation fostered cultural exchange and promoted greater understanding and appreciation of diversity among the young students.

At USCRI, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for shaping inclusive and resilient societies. With your support, we are fostering spaces where children and youth engage with cultures beyond their own, planting the seeds of empathy, understanding, and cooperation. By exposing the next generation to diversity through meaningful educational experiences, we are not only enriching their lives today but also empowering them to build a more just and intercultural world tomorrow.
