Updates from the Front Lines: Serving Immigrant Trafficking Survivors in 2026 – Live Recording

January 30, 2026

To commemorate National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, USCRI, along with the University of South Carolina, Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of International Migration, Asylee Women Enterprise, and Ayuda, held an event on January 21 to discuss the state of service programming for immigrant survivors of human trafficking in 2026.

A recently released preliminary report presents findings on how the Trafficking Victim Assistance Program (TVAP) and Aspire: Child Trafficking Victim Assistance Program (Aspire) are being implemented nationwide, and the challenges case managers face in supporting foreign-national survivors. One of the report’s authors discussed insights from the initial phases of the independent evaluation. The panel of speakers then explored key themes in service delivery, including the effects of funding constraints, barriers related to immigration status, and the challenges of providing trauma-informed case management in diverse local contexts.

Speakers included:

  • Bart Bachman, Associate Director of Anti-Trafficking Services, USCRI
  • Paula Fitzgerald, Executive Director, Ayuda
  • Lauri Hidalgo, Trafficking Survivors Advocacy Program Director, Asylee Women Enterprise
  • Benjamin Roth, PhD, MSW, University of South Carolina

USCRI Moderator – Julie Beyer, Senior Director of Field Offices & Legal Services
