You are invited to become a part of USCRI’s Legacy Society by making a legacy gift in support of our work. A legacy gift is a donation of any size made through a will, estate plan, or other formal designation.

Your gift will ensure that refugees, immigrants, trafficking survivors, and others will receive the help they need to begin their new lives—over the next 100 years and beyond. A legacy gift also helps us respond effectively to emergencies or create new programs that we may not foresee now, enabling us to be nimble and flexible to meet critical needs of our clients far into the future.

USCRI gratefully accepts the following types of legacy gifts:

• A bequest in your will
• As a named beneficiary of your life insurance policy or donor-advised fund
• As a named beneficiary of your retirement fund, such as a 401(k), 403(b), or IRA
• A pledge for a gift at a later date

USCRI’s motto is “Everyone. Everywhere. Equal Value.” Donors who make a legacy gift to USCRI are gratefully recognized as members of our Legacy Society, named in honor of this motto. If you wish to remain anonymous, we will ensure that your request is honored.

Donors who make a legacy gift in 2021 will be founding members of the USCRI Legacy Society and will receive a special gift.

Sample Language for Your Will

“I give and bequeath the sum of $_________ or _________ percent of my estate to the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Inc. a nonprofit institution incorporated in the State of New York with a business address of 2231 Crystal Drive, Suite 350, Arlington, VA 22202 and tax identification number 13-1878704 for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

Gifts may be made in honor of a loved one and may be designated to a USCRI field office if you wish.

Why We Need Your Help

The nature of USCRI’s work means that we face constant and ever-shifting challenges. Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately harmed refugees and immigrants, and we leapt into action to make sure families stayed healthy, housed and fed. Now we are seeing an increase in unaccompanied children at the southern border, and we are providing them with legal representation and ensuring they are placed in loving, safe homes. The number of refugees admitted to the U.S. also varies significantly from year to year, which can complicate our efforts to be ready to welcome them to their new homes.

Your legacy gift will give us the flexibility to meet challenges like these effectively.
