A Century of Service, A Call to Action: USCRI Network Convenes in Arlington

June 15, 2026

Last week, USCRI convened some of the nation’s oldest refugee and immigrant service agencies in Arlington, Virginia. Drawing on more than a century of collective experience, we reaffirmed our shared mission: to protect, support, and stand with refugees and immigrants around the world. The USCRI network was born in response to one of the largest waves of migration in U.S. history, when more than 15 million immigrants arrived between 1900 and 1915, many from Eastern Europe. Since 1975, USCRI partner agencies have also played a vital role in welcoming U.S. government-approved refugees and resettling more than 500,000 people. The Office of Refugee Resettlement (HHS/ORR) presented on refugee arrivals and services for FY 2026, underscoring both the scale of today’s needs and the urgency of sustained leadership. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield (ret.) also offered a compelling perspective on the global migration crisis and the international responsibility to respond with clarity, compassion, and resolve. This was more than a successful conference—it was a powerful affirmation of our enduring commitment and a call to action for the work ahead.
