Webinar: Addressing the Needs of Unaccompanied & Separated Children in Displacement Settings

November 19, 2024

Unaccompanied and separated children are among the most vulnerable populations affected by conflict and humanitarian crises. They face heightened risks of violence, exploitation, and neglect, with significant barriers to accessing essential services and protection mechanisms. In East Africa and surrounding subregions, children have been forced to migrate as violence, unrest, and climate shocks worsen.

To mark World Children’s Day 2024, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) convened a webinar to engage experts and practitioners from Kenya and Uganda in a critical dialogue on the needs, challenges, and best practices for supporting these children in displacement contexts.

This webinar aimed to deepen understanding and foster collaboration among stakeholders addressing the critical needs of unaccompanied and separated children in displacement settings. By sharing evidence-based practices and experiences, we hope to strengthen child protection responses across East Africa and enhance global advocacy efforts.
