Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have arrived in the United States since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. As the war continues and Russian attacks on civilians escalate, Ukrainians continue to seek safety and protection in the United States on a daily basis. However, the safety net available to Ukrainians arriving in the United States has been removed. The recent deal to keep the federal government open through mid-November did not include language to extend support to newly arriving Ukrainians.
