THE EMPRENDE PRO MUJER PROGRAM LAUNCHES IN HONDURAS

July 5, 2025

After years of planning and hard work, USCRI Honduras has launched the Emprende Pro Mujer program in collaboration with Pro Mujer and the Mennonite Social Action Commission (CASM). As of now, this innovative program will have 120 beneficiaries – all of whom are women returnees from the coast of Honduras with microenterprises that they are hoping to strengthen. This program builds upon our professional development services for returnees in El Salvador, with a specific focus on women. While their micro-enterprises range from food processing to decoration services to everything in between, these women all have one thing in common: the will to succeed and the potential to create value in their communities.

Over six weeks, beneficiaries will receive in-person and virtual training in areas such as strategy, administration, business management, branding, and more. Once participants pass an assessment of the subjects they have studied, they will be eligible to apply for in-kind seed capital of up to $700. Through jump-starting micro-businesses, this initiative aims to create a path for returnees to build new, prosperous lives for themselves at home. Just because the migratory route did not go as planned does not mean that dreams of a brighter future have to be stopped in their tracks.
