Our Programs

WHAT WE DO

USCRI Mexico was established in 2021 and additional programming was added in 2024 to support the creation of educational complementary pathways for refugees in Mexico. This goal is supported by simultaneously creating safe, inclusive, and intercultural host communities and advocating for the rights of migrants and asylum seekers. All this translates into the following programs and their respective projects:

US/MX Border program
Legal Clinic: Pro bono legal assistance for a better humanitarian response in the U.S.-Mexico border.
FOCAL: High-quality specialized services in migrant shelters with support from university students.
habesha project
Habesha Project Complementary Pathways: Creating higher education opportunities for young refugees from around the world via the Habesha Protection Scholarship.
Habesha Americas: A higher education access program for recognized refugees residing in Mexico.
welcoming communities program
Local Student Committees: Building on youth leadership to create welcoming communities and a lasting change in society.
Council for Refugee Students: Entity created to promote the self-representation of refugee youth.
Allied Universities Network: Fostering advocacy on campus and creating new spaces for refugees and people in mobility contexts.
