VENEZUELAN YOUTH REAP THE REWARDS OF YEARS OF DEDICATED STUDY SINCE ARRIVING IN MEXICO

July 5, 2025

Here at USCRI, nothing motivates us more than seeing our Habesha Project students achieve their dreams. Two of our students from Venezuela – Robert and Annuris – have recently given us some big reasons to be inspired. Robert, who studies at la Universidad de las Artes in Aguascalientes, successfully defended his thesis, titled “The Migrant Movement As Autoethnographic Diary: Toward New Narratives.” Robert continuously impresses us with how adeptly he captures migrant experiences through his work, and his keen ability to articulate himself in front of any audience.

We have also been pleased to celebrate Annuris, who has graduated from the Universidad Latina de América in Morelia. Since arriving from Venezuela in 2019, her intelligence and work ethic have brought her from strength to strength. In addition to her studies in Morelia, Annuris completed an exchange at the Universidad Anáhuac Cancún and summer courses at El Colegio de México. Her instructors consistently report back what we already know: she is an exceptional student with a promising future ahead of her.

Both Robert and Annuris are a testament to the fact that when refugees have the opportunity to thrive, they prove to be some of the brightest and most capable among us.
