Webinar: Towards a #PeriodFriendlyWorld: Menstrual Hygiene in Displacement Settings in East Africa

May 29, 2025

May 28 is World Menstrual Hygiene Day. Menstrual health remains a critical yet often overlooked issue, especially in displacement settings where access to sanitary products, clean water, and privacy can be severely limited. Menstruation is not just a health issue, it can also impact girls’ access to education and their participation in community life.

To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, USCRI hosted a webinar discussion to shed light on the unique challenges and innovative responses related to menstrual hygiene among displaced populations in Kenya and Uganda. We heard expertise from refugee-led initiatives, community-based projects, and humanitarian practitioners who explored practical solutions and shared firsthand experiences. Participating organizations included USCRI Kenya, Girl Power Action Initiative, and HEKS/EPER.

Be part of the movement to break the silence, challenge stigma, and promote a #PeriodFriendlyWorld for all.
