Every day, children come into the U.S. fleeing violence, persecution, and abuse in their home countries. They come in search of an opportunity to take charge of their own lives and build a bright future.

Some come unaccompanied, others come with family. No matter what they are fleeing, how, or with whom, these children are, first and foremost children. They have made an often times perilous journey and need a safe place to heal, learn, and play.

Since 2005, USCRI has been providing services to unaccompanied children as they navigate the U.S. immigration system and are safely united with a family member or sponsor.

As these children transition to stable lives in the U.S., they often struggle with the language barrier and the shift to the American education system.

This back-to-school season, USCRI’s Children Services team conducted a laptop drive and was able to purchase 225 laptops to give to unaccompanied children to help them complete school assignments, enroll in online ESL classes, or complete their GED. USCRI staff delivered these laptops and helped the youth and their families set them up, helping set these students up for success.

With the school year now underway, the Children’s Services team will continue to support children’s development and integration into their communities by providing funds for extracurricular activities and supplemental education costs.

Donate here to help USCRI as we provide this vital support to unaccompanied children.
